Ballet, Baseball and Politics
Francesca Humphrees’ mother was a world famous ballerina. When she died in a car accident, Frankie is left to carry on her legacy. Frankie’s grandmother, Phobe, expects this of her. Frankie is truly interested in auditioning for a ballet company, though practice takes up most of her time.
Meanwhile, her next door neighbor, Hazel Perez, keeps running into shortcomings and town maintainence (they didn’t keep the town park clean). This encourages Hazel to devise a campaign and run for mayor of the town.
When Frankie sees a sign at the local park advertising baseball tryouts, she decides to give it a shot. She keeps it secret from her grandmother, who doesn’t approve of baseball. Now swamped with so many activities she doesn’t have time for any of them, Frankie falls into despair. But with the help of her friend Hazel, she is able to regain her focus and learn that she must make up her mind before pursuing her dreams.
Cautions: This movie used God’s name in vain once and in one scene promoted the consumption of alcohol.
