Discover the best place to watch Heartland, commercial free! Heartland is not only the most popular family series currently broadcast, but is one of the top ten most watched streaming shows overall – surpassing all of the high-budget original streaming series.
Heartland is a long-running Canadian TV series following the Fleming family lead by Grandpa Jack, with help from his granddaughters Amy and Lou. After an unfortunate accident involving her mother, Amy is left to continue her mother’s legacy as a “miracle girl” with a gift for working with horses.
There are a number of options to view Heartland as it is available on Netflix and several other streaming services.
One option, however, is far and away the best, and few are aware it exists
BYU TV offers 15 seasons of Heartland at no charge, completely commercial-free, with no registration required. BYU TV is available on Roku, Amazon, Google Play, Apple, and Desktop.
Best of all for families, BYU TV edits the Heartland episodes to remove the occasional curse word or blasphemy from the original broadcast.
Heartland is based on the Heartland book series by Lauren Brooke. While the books are set in Virginia, the television adaptation is moved to Alberta. Grandpa Jack Bartlett runs Heartland which has been in his family for generations as a cattle ranch. Amy has taken over the equestrian training business previously run by her mother. Lou returns to Heartland from New York where she worked in investment sales. Lou attempts to modernize Heartland’s marketing and adds a dude ranch to bring in much needed additional revenue.
The Bartlett family is joined by Ty Borden who comes to Heartland to work as a ranch hand as part of a juvenile work-release program.
The series features characters characters from the nearby town of Hudson including neighbor Mallory, Caleb, Ashley, Soraya and her mother who run local diner and feed store Maggie’s, veterinarian Scott Cardinal.
A frequent source of conflict is the strained relationship between Grandpa Jack and his ex son-in-law Tim Fleming. Tim owns the adjoining Big River Ranch. Like Jack, Tim is a former rodeo cowboy and now raises cattle. Tim’s relationship with Amy and Lou had also became strained after his divorce with their mother.
There is also a rivalry with Val Stanton owner of competing horse facility Briar Ridge. In contrast to Heartland, Briar Ridge is a high-end facility focused often on profit over the well being of horses.
Lisa Stillman is the owner of Fairfield Stables a prominent horse breeding facility. She meets the Bartlett family after bringing a troubled horse to Amy for help.
Heartland is one of the few current series that appeals to the entire family with characters ranging from young to old and everywhere in between.
There are a few instances of mild curse words and blasphemies, but the BYU TV versions censor these.
The series now spans 292 episodes over 18 seasons and is the longest running scripted drama in Canadian TV history.
